Lift Station

Experienced Lift Station Professionals at Hand for You

Sewage/Wastewater lift station, also known as a pump station, is important equipment in fluid transportation. It helps to pump sewage or wastewater from a lower to a higher elevation, particularly where the elevation of the source is not sufficient for gravity flow or when the use of gravity conveyance will result in excessive excavation depths and high sewer construction costs. That is why we have trained our workers on how to use it effectively.

Components of Lift Stations

Essential components of a simple lift station include a wastewater receiving well or wet well (often equipped with a screen or grinding to remove coarse materials), pumps and piping with associated valves, motors, a power supply system, equipment control and alarm system and an odor control system and a ventilation system. For effective functioning, loft station equipment and systems are often installed in an enclosed structure. They can also be constructed on-site or prefabricated.

Uses of Lift Station

Lift stations are used to reduce the capital cost of sewer system construction. In case the gravity sewers are installed deeper than three meters (10 feet), the cost of sewer line installation increases significantly due to the complexity and costly excavation equipments and trench shoring techniques required.

In addition, the size of the gravity sewer lines is dependent on the minimum oil slope and flow. Pumping wastewater can easily convey the same flow using smaller pipeline size at a shallower depth. Hence, there is a reduction in pipeline cost.

How It Works

A lift station works using the following principles

  • Sewage is stored and fed into a pit
  • The electrical instrument recognizes the fullness of the pit
  • Activation of the pump
  • Subsequent pumping of the sewage out to its next destination
